Special Project — Haveli Barood Khana, Lahore, Pakistan
I painted this oil study for Haveli Barood Khana, the historic residence of Mian Yousaf Salahuddin in the Walled City of Lahore, Pakistan, where the work is currently displayed. Creating this piece allowed me to engage with the visual history and cultural heritage of Lahore through portraiture.
The painting is a study after Francesco Renaldi’s Portrait of a Mughal Woman (1787), originally painted in Calcutta and now part of the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
